Great Summer Smoothie!
Here is a good summer smoothie recipe for your blender or Vitamix. This is a great way for your kids to get their fruits and veggies.
A handful of blueberries
1/2 carrot
1/2 celery stalk
A handful of greens (Swiss chard, spinach, lettuce, kale, etc.)
1 apple (I like Granny Smith)
1 clove garlic
1 fat slice of fresh ginger
1 Tablespoon of ground flax seed
Agave Nectar or Stevia
Add about 6 ounces of filtered water and a handful of ice cubes and turn on the blender. Then pour and enjoy!
This will make a nice juice drink and if you prefer a thicker “smoothie” style drink just add a tablespoon or two of plain organic yogurt!
I use Trader Joe’s European Style Organic Yogurt. It comes in a large tub at a really good price.Of course organic ingredients are preferred!
