Whats That? "I Can't Afford To Buy Organic!"
What’s that? You say you can’t afford to buy organic? The reality is that you can’t afford not to buy organic! Your health and the health of your family depend on it. I hear this so often. “I can’t afford to buy organic. It’s so expensive.” Yet when I go to the supermarket I see people everywhere with their shopping carts filled with chips, soda, cereals, and all sorts of other unnecessary packaged and processed “foods”. If they stopped buying these unhealthy so called “foods” they would be able to afford organic fruits and vegetables. Even organic packaged food is still processed with little to no nutritional value. If you eat more organic fruits and vegetables your body will get the nutritional components that is necessary for good health and thus you will be satisfied eating less food and you will feel much better and be healthier. Once you start eating whole foods not processed fake foods you will notice that you no longer have headaches, stomach upset, constipation, skin irritations and rashes, and a myriad of other complaints. You will get sick less often and possibly not at all. So think of the money you will save on over the counter medicines for headaches, stomach upsets, rashes, etc.!
Many grocery stores now carry a section of organics. I admit that in some stores their “organic” selections look less than appealing so find stores that have a nice selection. And let the store manager with the less than appealing selection know that you are less than happy with their choices! If you have a Trader Joe’s near you they often have a fair selection of organics which are of good quality. Or try a farmer’s market near you. Your kids will enjoy the outing! Or grow your own in your very own organic garden! Yes it takes some time but both you and your kids will have fun, it’s less expensive and it tastes great! Your kids will learn that food isn’t “manufactured” and that it doesn’t come in a box. Future posts will provide more info on starting your own garden.
Does this sound like you? The next time that you go grocery shopping pay attention to what you are putting into your cart. Is it real food or is it “fake” food. You have the choice to make a difference. Save the extra money that you are spending on “junk” food and use that money to buy fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Get your kids hooked on healthy foods right from the start. It will make a huge difference in your health. And remember, your choices on how you spend your money at the supermarket will show corporations what we want and how we will spend our money. Wouldn’t you like to see higher quality food and products at a decent price? Let these companies know what and how you are willing to spend your hard earned dollars. Expect more. Get more.
